In May 2010, UnityCR became the first congregation in the Midwest to become a member of the EarthCare ministry of Unity Worldwide Ministries.

We created a covenant statement that embraced our dedication to the EarthCare vision and completed the first level of participation. In 2016 we completed Level 2, and we are currently in the process of achieving Level 3.

The vision statement of Unity Worldwide Ministries EarthCare is: “All humanity lives in a spiritual consciousness that manifests as loving coexistence with all creation and care for our Earth home.”

UnityCR EarthCare Covenant
  1. We acknowledge that all of creation is connected as one, and we hold great reverence for the interdependent web of all existence.
  2. We envision a world that is ecologically responsible and sustainable.
  3. We commit to actions that align us with oneness, and the interconnectedness of all.
  4. We acknowledge personal and spiritual commitment to this EarthCare Covenant, and declare our covenant with Spirit to walk upon the earth with the greatest good for all creation.
EarthCare Achievements
  • Recycling: We recycle all paper, cardboard, and plastics #1-5 and 7. We mindfully reduce, re-use, re-purpose, and recycle.

  • Lighting – UCR started using CFL’s in 2007. We have since moved to LED lighting, including our parking lot lights and outdoor sign. We also incorporate motion sensors in bathrooms and storage areas.

  • Composting – we compost coffee grounds, filters, and all food stuffs, minus cheese and meat.

  • Cloth Towels/Napkins –  In 2018 we switched from paper towels to cloth in our bathrooms and kitchens.

Recycling at UnityCR

At UnityCR, we encourage you to use our blue recycling bins throughout the building. ALL items need to be clean, empty, and dry. (Nothing with food waste.)

Plastics #3 – #7 may not be recycled depending upon the market price of oil.
