Sunday Message:

“Widows, Judges, Pharisees, and Tax Collectors”

The folks to whom Jesus spoke lived in a world that outwardly was very different from the world we live in today. So, what do the stories aka parables he shared have to do with us today? Is there something deeper in those stories that can guide us through the challenges we face today? The Widow and the Judge and the Pharisee and the Tax Collector can take us deep into the world of justice, inclusion, prayer, and humility. Let’s take the dive!

More About Parables: Then and Now

“What makes the parables mysterious, or difficult, is that they challenge us to look into the hidden aspects of our own values, our own lives. They bring to the surface unasked questions, that they reveal the answers we have always know, but refused to acknowledge …therefore, if we hear a parable and think, ‘I really like that,’ or worse, fail to take any challenge, we are not listening well enough.” (from Amy-Jill Levine) Join me as we explore the power of the parables, both then and now.
